Proper preparation the say prevents poor performance.
Every scholarship has its needs and requirements.
Likewise, they also have a qualification required for it.
Nonetheless, there are certain documents you must have before you will say you are prepared for any scholarship.
Below are the 8 top documents that you must have to be prepared for scholarship application.
-
School Identity Card.
This is a card given to you as a student by your schools as a means of identification.
It is like your national Identity card in school.
I.D Card is one of the very many important documents you need for any scholarship application.
The problem with these requirements is that most Nigerian Universities issue I.D cards late.
Taking UNIBEN as a case study, they often issue their I.D card in 200L 1st semester.
Students in 100L will now miss the chance of getting scholarship eligible to them.
However, there is a solution.
Some scholarships require your I.D card or eligibility.
I have a friend who got Agip Scholarship in 100L without school I.D card.
That’s cool right?.
-
O’Level Results
All scholarships require O’level results for application.
This is because some scholarships require that you have at least 5 distinctions or credit passes as the case may be.
O’level result dicussed here include SSCE, NECO, GCE and NABTEB.
Nevertheless, some scholarships only request specifically for SSCE (WAEC).
-
Admission Letter
In case you don’t know, there are several fake students around school.
By fake I mean they are pretending to be students like you.
Not everyone posing to be a student is actually one.
What differentiates the students fromĀ non students is the original Admission letter.
Although, scholarships require your admission letter to ascertain if you were really admitted into the said school.
The admission letter requested here is mostly the one from your school.
Although, JAMB admission letter is very much applicable.
If you should win any scholarship then you should be ready to show proof that you were actually admitted into school.
-
JAMB Result
Several scholarships request your JAMB result for application.
Some specific scholarships require that you get a score of 240 marks and above.
Nevertheless, your JAMB result is one of the 8 top documents for undergraduate scholarship application.
-
Eligibility
After you have successfully been cleared and now in 100L student proper in any university, you will have your eligibility duly signed by the clearance officer.
At times, some scholarships require that you supply your eligibility.
Likewise, you can also use your eligibility in place of school I.D Card.
-
Certificate Of Local Government Of Origin
This is one of the important document for scholarship application.
You may want to ask why and the reason is mot far fetched.
This is because some scholarships are area based.
For example, some scholarships are only opened to Niger Delta or oil producing states.
Someone not from this area may apply still but the certificate of local Government of origin will help fish that person out.
The certificate of LGA is a well recognizable proof of where you are from.
Furthermore, if you want to do clearance in any school, it’s importance cannot be overemphasized.
-
Passport
You may see this as something not important, but it is.
If you as much as get the passport size wrong, you have successfully screened yourself out.
Some scholarship bodies give the size, color and age of the passport before you can apply.
What I mean by age is that you will be told not to submit a passport more than 3 months old just as in Dangote foundation scholarship.Understood right?.
-
Birth Certificate
Well it is no longer news that a lot of people lie about their age to meet scholarship guides.
But the birth certificate is the bus stop of all the lies you can ever make.
Although, you can make use of your age declaration when your birth certificate is not available.
Scholarship bodies request this because they require that you are not more than a certain age before you can apply.
That will be the much we can take on the 8 top documents for undergraduate scholarship application in Nigeria.
