About Federal University Birnin Kebbi
Our History
The Federal University Birnin-Kebbi (FUBK) was established on 18th February, 2013 alongside those of Gusau and Gashua by the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the leadership of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, in line with policy of the Government for establishing a Federal University in states that did not have one across the federation.
Professor Lawal Suleiman Bilbis, FNSMB, a Professor of Biochemistry and former Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto was appointed as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University while Ibrahim Abubakar Mungadi, FCAI, was appointed as the Registrar.
Academic activities began in November, 2014 for the 2014/2015 academic session with a students’ population of 507 and academic staff strength of 102. Accordingly, maiden and second matriculation took place on 5th March, 2015 and 9th February, 2016 with a total of 507 and 972 Undergraduate sworn-in, respectively.
The University currently has three faculties and a College of Health Sciences and offer a total of twenty four (24) degree programmes.

Bsc. Applied Geophysics (UTME)
The entry requirements shall be at least credit level passes in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry to form the core subjects with credit in any other one relevant science subject, at the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent. Bsc. Biochemistry (UTME)To be admitted into the 4 year B.Sc. Biochemistry programme, the candidate must possess credit passes in 5 WASCE/GCE/NECO Subjects in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
Direct EntryTo be admitted into 3years B.Sc. Biochemistry Programme, the candidate must possess: ‘A’ Level passes in Biology, Chemistry and Physics ND/HND in relevant fields such as Diploma in Nutrition/Nutrition and Dietetics, Science Laboratory Technology and Food Science and Technology with a minimum of Lower Credit plus 5 credits in WASCE/NECO/GCE.

Sociology (UTME)Candidates who wish to study Sociology must have obtained a credit in Mathematics and English Language plus credit pass in either Economics, Geography or Government and other two subjects at the SSCE, NECO, GCE, or their equivalent not more than two sitting, An acceptable U.M.E. score is required.
Direct EntryCandidates for Direct Entry admission shall possess five Credits passes in the SSCE, NECO, GCE or equivalents of which at least two shall be at advanced level, or four credits passes of which at least three shall be at advanced lavel provided that such passes are mot counted at both levels of the examinations, For emphasis credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any of Economics, Geography or Government is compulsory.

Accounting (UTME)Candidates for admission into the four – year degree in Geography should possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate, General Certificate of Education (GCE), NECO or their equivalents with at least five credit passes,at not more than two sittings including Mathematics, English Language and Geography. In addition, candidates must have acceptable passes in UME.
