Midwifery is the health science and health profession that deals with pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period (including care of the newborn), in addition to the sexual and reproductive health of women throughout their lives. In many countries, midwifery is a medical professionm (special for its independent and direct specialized education; should not be confused with the medical specialty, which depends on a previous general training). A professional in midwifery is known as a midwife.

A 2013 Cochrane review concluded that “most women should be offered midwifery-led continuity models of care and women should be encouraged to ask for this option although caution should be exercised in applying this advice to women with substantial medical or obstetric complications.” The review found that midwifery-led care was associated with a reduction in the use of epidurals, with fewer episiotomies or instrumental births, and a decreased risk of losing the baby before 24 weeks’ gestation. However, midwifery-led care was also associated with a longer mean length of labor as measured in hours

Sequel to the accreditation secured by the Jigawa State College of Nursing Sciences Burning Kudu from Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to commence Post Basic Midwifery Program, we are hereby informing the general public that sales of application form for the aforementioned program will commence from Monday, 1st July, 2024 to Friday, 9th August, 2024.

Candidate for admission into general nursing Education Programme of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria must possess the following

  • Senior Secondary School Certificate/Testimonial
  • A minimum of five O’ level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more 2 sittings in NECO and WAEC.
  • National Business Technical and Examination Board (NABTEB) result accepted (only one sitting)

Method of Application

Interested Candidates should visit  the school portal www.jisconm.edu.ng and follow the instruction

Step 1: Visit jisconm.edu.ng
Step 2: Click on Portal, then Click on Online Application.
Step 3: Click on “Click here to create Account”
Step 4: Provide required information on profile Activation Form & Click on “Proceed”
Step 5: After completing Step 4, RRR Code will be generated. You may continue with payment online via Remita Portal or copy the RRR Code and pay @ any Bank Branch, anywhere.
Step 6: After successful completion of payment, Repeat Steps 1 & 2, then type-in your Phone Number (provided in Step 3) and RRR Code (Generated in Step 5), Then Click on Submit.
Step 7: After Completing Step 6, Application Form menu will be displayed (as below) represent a section of the form. Click on it & provide the required information until Application Status completed.
Step 8: Print Acknowledgment Slip
