The Nigerian Defence Academy course is a 5 year course which includes 4 years of the academic program and one year of military training.
However, this academic program and military training result in the award of a Bachelor’s Degree.
Likewise, the awardee is also presidentially commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant or its equivalent in the Navy or Air force.
Therefore, the candidate must;
- Obtain a minimum of 5 credit passes with English and Mathematics in SSCE or its equivalent in not more than two sittings relevant to their choice of course.
- be at least 17 years old and not more than 21 years old at the point of entry into the academy.
- have at least two supporting relevant credits to the compulsory credits in the faculty of choice except in the faculty of Engineering where only one supporting credit is needed.
- not be more than 1.68m tall for male and 1.50m for females.
- be single male or female without without legal obligation to support any child or individual.
- be physically and medically fit with good moral behaviors.
- present a certificate of origin from local Government.

The following are the complete and updated list of courses offered in Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
NATURE & DURATION OF PROGRAMME
Candidates admitted into NDA for Regular Course will undergo military and academic training as Officer cadets for a duration of 5 years for Nigerian Army cadets and 4 years for Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Airforce cadets.
On Successful completion of training, graduands will earn a honours degree in a core discipline (BSc, BEng, BA).
They will equally earn a Presidential Commission into the Armed Force of Nigeria
Only candidates who satisfied the admission requirements and must have the UTME score of 180 for
Arts and Social Sciences and Science while 210 score for Engineering courses will be enabled to print the Screening Test Admission Card and participate in the NDA Screening Test at the centre of choice.
