  • Applications Deadline: You need first to apply to departments for a PhD place (or Masters and PhD if appropriate). You should indicate that you are interested in being considered for SeNSS ESRC funding.

Please note there are some variations in application deadlines for individual pathways.

The specific local deadlines for pathways involving Goldsmiths are as follows:

Studentships will cover your tuition fees for up to four years full-time (including for an MA or MSc if relevant) or the part-time equivalent and will provide an annual stipend.

This is currently worth (as of 2018/19) £16,777 including London Weighting. Those studying on a part-time basis will be eligible for £8,388 per year pro rata.

  1. EU students

EU students can apply for the 2021/22 year and, if successful, will receive a fees-only award.

  1. International students

We regret that international students are not eligible for funding.

  • Number of Scholarships: There are 37 studentships are available across the 10 SeNSS institutions for entry in October 2021

Eligibility for the Scholarship

Eligible Countries: These studentships are available to UK and EU students.

Entrance Requirements: To be eligible for a full award (stipend and fees), you must:

  • Be ordinarily resident in the UK, meaning there are no restrictions on how long you can stay, and
  • Have been ‘ordinarily resident’ in the UK for at least three years prior to the start of the studentship grant. This means you must have been normally residing in the UK (apart from temporary or occasional absences), and
  • Not have been residing in the UK wholly or mainly for the purpose of full-time education. (This does not apply to UK nationals and EU nationals who were ordinarily resident in the EU immediately before the period of full-time education).

Wherever possible please submit all supporting documents with your online application. In very unusual cases where this is not possible, please send them directly to the postgraduate administrator in the Goldsmiths academic department you are applying to, making it very clear that it’s for an ESRC-funded studentship
