Equity Through Education is a BMO”s charitable initiative that supports students in funding their education.
To date, Equity Through Education has raised C$15 million (US$13.5 million).
This translates into assistance to over 2,500 students through scholarships, bursaries and job search strategy forums. BMO with the support of various charities offers following scholarships:
Financial Women’s Association of New York Educational Fund
The funds from Equity Through Education have primarily been directed towards scholarships to students pursuing their undergraduate education and to enhancing their educational and professional development.
This fund consists of three types of scholarships i.e. FWA- BMO Capital Markets Scholarship Fund for undergraduate women with financial need and academic promise at Baruch College;
BMO Capital Markets Undergraduate Scholarships for students who graduate from the FWA mentoring program at Murry Bergtraum High School (MBHS) in lower Manhattan and graduate scholarships for MBA students at various schools in New York from NYU to Columbia. The fund also provide study abroad program for young women.
Foundation for the Advancement of Aboriginal Youth (FAAY)
The Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business has developed this scholarship and bursary program for Aboriginal students.
Now this program provides scholarships and bursaries to high school, university and college students across Canada.
To date, Equity Through Education has funded 250 scholarships for Aboriginal students across Canada through FAAY.
Indspire Scholarship
Indspire helps Aboriginal students in getting education across Canada.
Now Equity Through Education supports Indspire’s commitment to help Aboriginal students achieve their educational goals.
Equity Through Education funds scholarships in every field of study, with a focus on business, engineering, math and science.
To date, Equity Through Education has funded 446 scholarships for Aboriginal students across Canada.
Lime Connect Scholarships
These scholarships are available for students with disabilities in Canada and the U.S. Scholarships are awarded for pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees in business/commerce, engineering, math, physics, statistics or a related discipline.
Selected recipients will receive $10,000 (students in the US) or $5,000(students in Canada) to support their future studies.
New applications will launch in fall 2015.
Loran Scholars Foundation
This foundation supports talented students who show promise of leadership and a strong commitment to service in the community.
Now, with the support of Equity Through Education, it awards scholarships for women across Canada.
Loran Scholars are provided with a renewable award comprising a $9,000 living stipend matched by a tuition waiver from one of 25 partner universities. $8,500 in funding is provided for three kinds of scholar-initiated summer internships (private sector, public policy and personal/community development).

This charitable organization helps youth in low-income communities graduate from high school and successfully transition into post-secondary education or training.
To date, Equity Through Education proceeds have supported the graduation of more than 450 students. Funds supported Pathways communities in Toronto and Montreal.
National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS)
NEADS focuses on access to colleges and universities in Canada so that students with disabilities can participate in all college and university programs, including all aspects of campus life.
With the support of Equity Through Education, it awards tuition scholarships to students with disabilities based on their achievements within post-secondary education and their potential for continued success in their field.
The tuition scholarships are awarded in the following categories of study: University undergraduate (arts and science); Graduate/Professional; and College.
Women in Capital Markets (WCM)
With funds from the Equity Through Education program, BMO Capital Markets and WCM have developed the Return to Bay Street Award.
The Award program grants up to five awards to selected candidates and includes $5,000 towards an education program, a paid four-month internship with BMO Capital Markets, National Bank Financial Markets, RBC Capital Markets or Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets, a WCM mentor, and a one-year WCM membership.
Youth in Motion’s Top 20 Under 20 Program
The Top 20 Under 20 Program is open to all youth under 20 across Canada. In addition to offering financial support, the Top 20 Under 20 Award Program offers a full year of leadership training.
The Equity Through Education and Youth in Motion fund to improve lives through education and to help diversify the Canadian workplace. Each recipient is awarded a bursary to help them reach their educational goals
