Is having a high JAMB score a guarantee for my admission this year?. This is the question everyone has been asking and to be truthful with you, I have been thinking about it seriously. Other questions that may come to mind are
- Is getting good grades a guarantee for my admission this year?

All these questions have been answered by one man( Prof. Ishaq Oloyede) who has made numerous changes to JAMB this year. To answer the question, “is having a high JAMB score a guarantee for my admission this year”, I will confidently say “NO”. Having a high JAMB score does not guarantee your admission in to any university this year.
In fact, the JAMB registrar has clearly stated that having a high JAMB score is not a guarantee for admission this year. He added that only a combination of the following and other criterias as determined by institutions can ensure candidates admission.
Furthermore, the scoring higher than the minimum cut off marks does not guarantee admission. It only makes the candidate eligible for admission consideration. Likewise, institutions determine the institutional, programme and course cut off marks.
JAMB Registrar On “Is Having A High JAMB Score A Guarantee For My Admission”?
The JAMB registrar clearly stated that JAMB is not an examination body but a ranking body. He further added that if there were enough spaces in the tertiary institutions, there will not be need for post UTME. According to him, the cut-off mark by JAMB is only a threshold below which no institution can admit candidates.
Finally, the JAMB registrar concluded by hinting that candidates reserve the right to reject the admission given to them. He likewise urged the institutions to comply with the advertised criteria for admission.
