Having A Low CGPA? See How To Improve On It Drastically
Table of Interests
CGPA is Cumulative Grade Point Average. In real life situation and experiences, people don’t stay at the top forever. If you attended a good secondary school, you definitely will remember Newton’s third law of motion irrespective of whether you were in Art or Science class. Newton’s third law of motion states that;
For every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction
This can be interpreted as saying “whatever goes up, must surely come down. Funny as it may, some students use their CGPA to practice Newtons’ third law of motion. This semester, their CGPA is high while other times it comes down drastically. They are not consistent at all.
Furthermore, it is surprising at times how some students go against this law and stay on top. Their CGPA is either constant at the top or keeps improving. In light of the present day realities, graduating with a strong CGGA is a stone throw to success. Today, I am going to enumerate reasons for having a low CGPA. Likewise, as a problem solver, I will give you tips on how to improve drastically on it. However, before we begin, here is a calculator for CGPA you may want to take advantage of.

Indiscipline
I understand perfectly how well it is difficult to follow your time table at times. I am also a student and I have coountless number of times experienced such. But it all boils down to discipline when it comes to following it. I believe before you sketch your time table, you must have thought of a lot of factors. When it has been finally designed by you, it means that it is what best fits your schedule. If you don’t follow it,it is either of the two reasons below;
- Indiscispline
- Village witches
If you want your CGPA to become high, be disciplined and follow your timetable.
-
Lack Of Preparation
It is often said that “Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance”. This may be the major reason why you are having a low CGPA. You don’t just prepare, neither do you plan. Remember that if you are failing to plan, it therefore means you are planning to fail and you will definitely see it reflect on your results.
-
Lack Of Proper Time Management
In one of my previous articles tagged “Time Management Tricks“, I explained a lot of techniques on time management. It will be a sin to talk about it again. If you don’t manage your time properly, you will not need an explanation on why you are having a low CGPA.

When You Don’t Know Your Reading Habit
Some students cannot just be themselves and stick to their style. This is why you read without getting adequate understanding and therefore a corresponding poor result. Furthermore, if you don’t discover the reading habit that works best for you, you will see the effect on your CGPA.
-
No Drive Leads To Having A Low CGPA
I understand you desired to be an engineer but found yourself being admitted into Education to study fishery education. This is not a reason to fail. Be the best wherever you are and when the opportunity comes, you grab it. People in this category are those who weren’t given their choice of course. If you don’t have drive for the course you are studying, don’t be surprised you are having a low CGPA.
-
Not Mastering Your Lecturers
Whether you like it or not, there are always some questions a particular lecturer must set. This maybe because they do not have time to rack their brain for new questions or they want to have a smooth ride when marking. They are often so much in love with some specific questions that they bring it in test and exam. If you don’t study your lecturers, you wont be able to predict them.
-
Zero Motivation To Learning
Insanity is using the same method over and over again and expecting different results. If you study alone and it’s not working well for you, be humble enough to meet your classmates. If not, you will not need a soothsayer to tell you the rest of the story.

When You Don’t Practice What You’ve Learnt
Assuming you have known it means confirmation that you will fail. If you don’t practice, you won’t be perfect and it will bolden the reason why you are having a low CGPA.

Having A Low CGPA? It’s Because You Don’t Pray
Praying to God brings one type of unexplainable confidence. When you pray, you don’t make mistakes. The reason for having a low CGPA isn’t farfetched if you don’t pray.

Lack Of Foresight
I have friends who have already set their exam questions, practiced them and prepare before the real exam questions arrive on their desk. This is the power of foresight. If you don’t apply this technique, prepare for anything to happen.
