The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Fellowship programme aims to provide funding for students to study at university level, as well as providing support and development for those who demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset.

Allan Gray Orbis Fellowship Bursary FIELDS COVERED

The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation awards up to 100 Fellowships to deserving students each year, within the following fields:

Engineering
Law
Commerce
Science
Humanities
Health Science (excluding Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science)

COVERAGE VALUE & SELECTION PROCESS

The following study-related expenses are covered by the fellowship award: university tuition fees, prescribed books, university accommodation, meals, a monthly living stipend, tutor allowance. Students also receive academic support, mentorship, and access to personal development and entrepreneurial programme.

Matric students: shortlisted candidates will be contacted and required to attend a face to face interview (to take place in June or July 2019), shortlisted candidates will then be required to attend the Selection Camp (to take place in September 2019).

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

Achieved a minimum overall average of level 6 in Grade 11 finals (excluding Life Orientation)
Intend on studying towards a degree qualification within one of the aforementioned fields of study
Intend on studying at one of the following partner universities: University of Johannesburg/ University of the Witwatersrand/ University of Pretoria/ University of Cape Town/ University of the Western Cape/ Stellenbosch University/ TSIBA (2nd-year intake)/ Rhodes University/ Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University/ University of KwaZulu-Natal/ University of the Free State
Completed the National Benchmark Test by 30 September 2019
Strong leadership qualities or entrepreneurially-minded
