Nomenclature:

This school shall be called and addressed as the “School of Nursing, Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Afikpo”.  

Scope Of Training:

The school has facilities for both direct entries and Post-Basic entries (Midwifery Post Basic).

Duration Of Training:

Direct entries for certificate in general nursing last for three (3) years. While the Post-Basic entries for midwives last for 2 years leading to the award of Certificate in General Nursing (C.G.N).

Entry Qualifications:

(a)     Direct Entry:

(i)         Candidate must have five (5) papers (0’ level) at credit level including English language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings in GCE, SSCE and NECO.
(ii)        The candidates must satisfy the panel of interviewers that they are academically, physically and psychologically qualified and fit for the course.

(b)     Age:

These Candidates should not be less than 17 years of age and not more than 35 years at the commencement of the course.
(c)        Post-Basic candidates should not be less than 30 years of age at the commencement of the course. They must have had their midwifery training in institution recognized by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
(d)       All direct entry candidates must pass an entrance examination set and conducted by the school (or as may be arranged) before they are called for an interview. They will satisfy the panel of interviewers that they are both academically and physically qualified and fit for the course.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

1. Original/photocopies of West African School Certificate (WASC) or Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or National Examination Council (NECO) Certificate with five (5) credits in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at not more than two sittings.
2. Birth Certificate/Declaration of Age
3. Testimonial from last school
4. A letter from your Parish Priest or Pastor
5. Marriage Certificate (If any)
6. Three (3) passport photograph
7. Baptismal Card (Very Very Important)
8. Any Post Basic candidate should submit obtained RM Certificate/License

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Application forms ar obtainable from the School at a (non-refundable) payment of (N15,200) Fifteen Thousand Two Hundred Naira Only into First Bank of Nigeria PLC.

Sale of form commences from 01/02/2021 to 31/05/2021

Completed forms should be received in the School on or before 31^st May, 2021.
